Youth Groups for Middle School and High School
students
(grades 4-12). The youth groups meet monthly for social activities,
Bible studies and service projects for the church and community.
The
youth prepare and serve the annual Easter breakfast. In July they
attend the district outing at Magic Waters in Rockford, and in
November they attend the district roller skating party. Every three
years they attend the national LCMS Youth Gathering.
Ladies' Aid meets the first Thursday of the
month September
through May. Activities include devotional studies, fund raising to
support church, community and mission projects, and human care and
support of church family members. The Ladies Aid organizes and
serves funeral luncheons after memorial services of loved ones
bringing comfort to people experiencing grief. They also host an
annual Fall Luncheon, Bazaar and Silent Auction. The Ladies Aid is
associated with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. LWML
mission projects are supported through "mites" collected the first
Sunday of the month. Through LWML the ladies also assemble baby
layette bundles which get distributed through Lutheran World Relief.
Senior Card Club meets the third
Thursday of the month at 1:00
P.M. Members enjoy snacks, swap stories and laughter, and play
Pinochle or other card and/or board games.
Altar Guild cares for the alter
paraments, banners, communion ware,
and flowers. Members volunteer to serve for one month a year.
Complete training is provided along with responsibilities checklists.
Human Care Committee loves volunteers to
help care for the
human needs of anyone of any age in our church family. Volunteers
are needed to help prepare and deliver meals for those experiencing
need, illness, surgery, or to new moms having a baby. The Human
Care Committee keeps in touch year round with the shut-ins through
cards, fruit baskets, plants or other gifts and visits. Our main
community outreach program is the Burlington/Hampshire Area Food
Pantry. We deliver our congregational donations the third Sunday of
the month to the pantry and take our turn packing up bags for
families. Able gentlemen are especially welcome to help carry bags
and do whatever else may be needed on Food Pantry pickup days
(third Monday of the month, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM). St. Peter's
month to pack groceries on Sunday and distribute groceries on
Monday is in September.
Quilters Group assembles quilts
distributed to individuals and
families in need through Lutheran World Relief. Volunteers meet
Mondays January through April at 9:00 AM. Sewing skills are not a
requirement.
Bethesda Workers volunteer the fourth
Saturday of the month at the
Bethesda Thrift Store in Crystal Lake. Their responsibilities
include
processing donations, stocking and organizing shelves, and sales.
Cradle Roll committee is responsible for
sending out information to
parents of newly baptized infants in the congregation.
